Botox makes a little boy suffered debilitating illness can walk again

A little boy crippled by a debilitating illness can walk again - thanks to Botox.

The toxin, usually only used for cosmetic purposes, has transformed nine-year-old William Scott's life.

He was diagnosed with Perthes disease in his left hip two years ago after pains in his leg had caused him to start limping. The disease caused the ball and socket joint in his hip to soften and break down, putting him in constant pain and leaving him wheelchair-bound.

He has spent the last 10 months off school and the family had to move his bedroom downstairs because going to bed had become to great an effort.

But now William, of Great Lumley, County Durham, is recovering thanks to the skill of surgeons and a four month course of Botox injections.

Britain's oldest bride and groom have tied the knot, with a combined age of 177 between them.

Only a month after meeting, Peggy Clark, 84, and James Mason, 93, married in Paignton, Devon, on Monday.

The devoted couple say it was "love at first sight" after meeting at a day centre and enjoying only three days of seaside dates before James popped the question.

Hehehe, I fell happy for them

Pulling a bus .... with his penis.

Posted by jai on Sunday, June 24, 2007

If you think Britain's got talent, take a look at this (though, guys, it might make your eyes water).

Jaja Stone thrills a crowd in Jakarta, Indonesia, by pulling a bus along... with his penis.

It was part of a strong man contest to mark the city's 480th anniversary. Mr Stone proved he had balls of steel by pulling the 8.9- tonne bus 50m (55 yards) using his genitals.

Man fails exams for 38th time

He'd get full marks for persistence, but that's not a qualification that would mean very much to Shiv Charan Yadav.

The 73-year-old Indian farmer has been taking - and failing - his high school exams every year since 1969 and has just flunked again for the 38th time.

"Once I pass I want to get married to a girl who's under 30," said Yadav.

He is now revising for his 39th attempt next year.

20 Most Amazing Coincidences

  1. James Dean's car curse

    • In September 1955, James Dean was killed in a horrific car accident whilst he was driving his Porsche sports car. After the crash the car was seen as very unlucky.
      a) When the car was towed away from accident scene and taken to a garage, the engine slipped out and fell onto a mechanic, shattering both of his legs.
      b) Eventually the engine was bought by a doctor, who put it into his racing car and was killed shortly afterwards, during a race. Another racing driver, in the same race, was killed in his car, which had James Dean's driveshaft fitted to it.
      c) When James Dean's Porsche was later repaired, the garage it was in was destroyed by fire.
      d) Later the car was displayed in Sacramento, but it fell off it's mount and broke a teenager's hip.
      e) In Oregon, the trailer that the car was mounted on slipped from it's towbar and smashed through the front of a shop.
      f) Finally, in 1959, the car mysteriously broke into 11 pieces while it was sitting on steel supports.
  2. A falling baby, saved twice by the same man

    • In Detroit sometime in the 1930s, a young (if incredibly careless) mother must have been eternally grateful to a man named Joseph Figlock. As Figlock was walking down the street, the mother's baby fell from a high window onto Figlock. The baby's fall was broken and both man and baby were unharmed. A stroke of luck on its own, but a year later, the very same baby fell from the very same window onto poor, unsuspecting Joseph Figlock as he was again passing beneath. And again, they both survived the event. (Source: Mysteries of the Unexplained)
  3. A bullet that reached its destiny years later

    • Henry Ziegland thought he had dodged fate. In 1883, he broke off a relationship with his girlfriend who, out of distress, committed suicide. The girl's brother was so enraged that he hunted down Ziegland and shot him. The brother, believing he had killed Ziegland, then turned his gun on himself and took his own life. But Ziegland had not been killed. The bullet, in fact, had only grazed his face and then lodged in a tree. Ziegland surely thought himself a lucky man. Some years later, however, Ziegland decided to cut down the large tree, which still had the bullet in it. The task seemed so formidable that he decided to blow it up with a few sticks of dynamite. The explosion propelled the bullet into Ziegland's head, killing him. (Source: Ripley's Believe It or Not!)
  4. Twin Boys, twin lives

    • The stories of identical twins' nearly identical lives are often astonishing, but perhaps none more so than those of identical twins born in Ohio. The twin boys were separated at birth, being adopted by different families. Unknown to each other, both families named the boys James. And here the coincidences just begin. Both James grew up not even knowing of the other, yet both sought law-enforcement training, both had abilities in mechanical drawing and carpentry, and each had married women named Linda. They both had sons whom one named James Alan and the other named James Allan. The twin brothers also divorced their wives and married other women - both named Betty. And they both owned dogs which they named Toy. Forty years after their childhood separation, the two men were reunited to share their amazingly similar lives. (Source: Reader's Digest, January 1980)
  5. Just like Edgar Allan Poe's book

  6. Twin brothers, killed on the same road, two hours apart

  7. Three suicide attempts, all stopped by the same Monk

  8. Poker winnings, to the unsuspected son

  9. A novel that unsuspectedly described the spy next door

  10. Mark Twain and Halley's Comet

  11. Three strangers on a Train, with complementary last names

  12. Two brothers killed by the same taxi driver, one year apart

  13. Swapped Hotel Findings

  14. Two Mr. Brysons, same hotel room

  15. Twins brothers, same heart attack

  16. A novel that predicted the Titanic's destiny, and another ship that almost followed

  17. A writer, found the book of her childhood

  18. A writer's plum pudding

  19. King Umberto I' double

  20. The 21st, a bad day for King Louis

Wheelchair man pushed in front of truck at 50mph

Posted by jai on Friday, June 08, 2007

A man was taken on the wildest ride of his life when his wheelchair became lodged in the grille of a truck and accidentally pushed down a motorway at 50 mph.

Ben Carpenter, who was strapped in his wheelchair, was pushed for four miles before police managed to alert the disbelieving driver. Amazingly he was not hurt in his high-speed adventure.

Last gasp for the Lourdes of the Americas

Posted by jai on Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Shimmering beneath the scorching sun of the Peruvian desert is an extraordinary sight - a tiny settlement, complete with lagoon, lush palm groves, carob trees, cafes, neatly clipped lawns, 100-strong population and even the odd swimming pool.

For thousands of years, Huacachina, otherwise known as the 'oasis of Americas' - there is only one - has been a beacon of green, hidden deep amid hundreds of miles of barren desert. Over the centuries, its glimmering waters have saved the lives of hundreds of sun-addled travellers, staggering in from the heat with their mules. Read more : Oasis of America

Is Prince William giving us an intriguing insight on his own website, or is it just a royal hoax?

Posted by jai on Monday, May 14, 2007

It could be yet another elaborate Internet hoax, but if looks are to be believed, it seems Prince William is offering the world a fascinating insight into his social circle.

A certain William Wales - the name the 24-year-old prince has used during his Sandhurst training and at Eton - has posted an entry on the "social networking" website Facebook.

Of course, with the ease of access to the web it is hard to ensure that the person who posts an entry is who they claim to be.

This means it is not clear whether it is actually Prince William who has registered, or a pretender to the throne.

But the majority of "friends" listed have genuine connections to the prince, either through university, school or his social circles.
